Impact investor Omnivore(earlier Omnivore Partners) is in the midst of an active year: it marked the first close of its second venture capital fund- Omnivore Partners India Fund II- at $46 million (Rs 296 crore), and it invested in two companies from the fund early this year- agri-analytics startup AgNext and milk delivery startup Doodhwala.

Organic, Ready-to-Cook Food Company YCook Nets $5M Series B

A trio of investors – venture capital firm 021 Capital, Netherlands-based impact fund Oikocredit, and existing backer Omnivore – have funded a $5 million Series B round for Bengaluru, India -based YCook, a startup that provides range of snacks and ingredients that are boiled naturally without any additives or preservatives and can be stored at room temperature without refrigeration for up to one year.

YCook’s product line of vegetables, fruits and lentils are marketed under the brand name Ta-daa and is currently available across India and in nine other countries. YCook will use the additional financing to continue expanding its reach, accelerate product growth and innovation, and invest in marketing.

ABB Technology Ventures Invests in Indian IoT Dairy Startup Stellapps Technologies

ABB has invested in Stellapps Technologies through its venture capital unit, ABB Technology Ventures (ATV). The series B investment round was led by IndusAge Partners and included new investors Qualcomm Ventures and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (through its program-related investment team in London). Stellapps is India’s first end-to-end dairy supply chain solutions company, in use by over 750,000 farmers daily. Founded in 2011, the Bangalore-based startup is building automated tools leveraging the Internet of Things (IoT) and advanced analytics to improve milk production and quality for the country’s dairy farms, collection centers and processors. This is ATV’s first investment in India.

The cornerstone of the Stellapps solution is SmartMoo, a full-featured analytics solution covering the entire value chain from milk production to farmer payments. SmartMoo can track an animal’s health and yield through a wearable sensor, measuring parameters such as milk quantity and yield, and monitor conditions under which the milk is stored, transported and distributed.

Stellapps bags $14 million in a round led by Gates Foundation, others

BENGALURU: Omnivore-backed agritech startup Stellapps Technologies has raised $14 million in one of the largest equity funding rounds led by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and IndusAge Partners, among others. Bengalurubased Stellapps Technologies, which is also backed by Flipkart executive chairman Binny Bansal, is touted to be one of the largest dairy IoT platforms in India. The funds raised will be used for product development and expansion.

YCook gets $5 m from Binny Bansal-backed O21 Cap, others

YCook, an organic, ready-to-cook processed foods startup, has raised $5 million (about Rs 33.7 crore) in a Series-B round from venture capital firm 021 Capital, Netherlands-based impact fund Oikocredit and existing backer Omnivore.

The company plans to use the money for making improvements to its factory, acquiring certifications and boosting marketing. Its products, marketed under the brand name Ta-daa!, have a shelf life of one year.
